The Race 2 Rhodes changed my outlook on mountain biking forever. I like the way the race is presented and the touring aspect of the event really appeals to me. I like the fact that you ride the tracks as you find it, without it being manicured or artificial and that the event is casual in nature.
On the internet I started looking at other events similar to the Freedom Challenge, like the Ride Across America and the Tour Divide. It was then that I discovered the term Bike Packing.
This is really what I would like to do.
So, I will be leaving on a solo ride to San Lameer from Randburg, starting on Thursday, 11 December.
Fortunately, Eileen understands my restlessness and has allowed me the time to indulge myself.
With the idea of having a bit of fun with the ride and as a form of diarising the trip, I am going to post entries to this blog. I have included a Blog List of some of my favourite blog sites, at the bottom of this page.
